The series of leadership training sessions scheduled for January and February 2009 has been postponed. The word from the field is that the leadership training was scheduled too closely to Strand 3 of the Oregon DATA Project’s professional development, which debuts in roughly the same time frame. We want everyone to have the opportunity to participate in both trainings, so the leadership sessions will be rescheduled for a later date. Meanwhile, be sure to sign up for Strand 3, “Using Data to Improve Learning in the Classroom,” which will be held at eight different locations throughout the state during February, March and April. The Education Enterprise Steering Committee was formed to partner with K-12 school districts, ESDs, Community Colleges, Universities, Oregon Department of Education and the Governor's office. One of our efforts this year will be to IMPROVE COMMUNICATION among all the partner members. One way the committee selected was to submit a monthly "highlights" to everyone following each monthly meeting.

 

We have created a new section of the School Improvement portion of the website titled "Best Practices." In this section, we will highlight the schools, districts and ESDs who are doing work that really makes a difference. Our first featured "Best Practice" is the South Lane School District Administrative Council, which has met twice monthly for the past seven years to work on leadership development for administrators and pre-service administrators.
