A partnership between the Governor's Office, ODE, OUS, K-12 and OAESD
Because the "what" of school improvement is well established, the focus of the EESC's School Improvement work is to support schools on "how" to improve.
Our goal is to provide you with the information on how to accomplish this improvement. The Teaching Learning Connection (TLC) is Oregon's statewide framework that supports districts and schools in their effort to move from "good to great" and/or help make immediate and dramatic changes for Title I-A schools/districts that are in "needs improvement status" or restructuring
It is an integrated, sustainable system that focuses on how to increase student achievement for "all" students by providing the tools, processes, and supports to implement and link effective school practices. TLC training components are based on sound research that has demonstrated its ability to make substantial increases in student achievement in schools nationwide(90-90-90 Study, 1998). TLC components also correlate to the Oregon Standards for District Success, which drives the Oregon Continuous Improvement Plan. ESD staffs are trained and skilled in all TLC components.
The school improvement group consists of ESD curriculum directors, coordinators and specialists, along with K-12 curriculum directors and ODE staff.
