Continuous Improvement Planning (CIP) and Process
This process provides a vehicle for districts to engage in inclusive and comprehensive planning to address the needs of all students as delineated in the Oregon Education Performance Standards. TLC provides a number of training and coaching opportunities and support documents to help districts make this process meaningful by creating a living, dynamic document that district, school leaders and staff use to guide their actions and make decisions.
OAESD, with support from COSA, OSBA and ODE, offers a four-part training series that guides districts through a process that creates system-wide and school-based indicators that result in creating a supportive system of accountability that moves district leaders from compliance to commitment. Each part of the training leads district teams through a more in-depth understanding of the key elements of a CIP. Teams leave each session with a richer understanding of not only how to draft their CIP, but how to achieve the results they are after.
Part I of the training, "A System of Accountability," was conducted during the 2007-08 school year. Additional opportunities for this training are offered at the June COSA & July OSBA conferences. This session will also be offered at COSA's new superintendent and principal conferences. Follow-up support in DataDriven Decision Making (DDDM) is offered at each of these conferences or can be scheduled by contacting your local ESD.
Part II of the training, "Moving from Compliance to Commitment," is scheduled for the 2008-09 school year. Part III of the training, "Results Now: Increasing Student Achievement in A Standards Based System," is scheduled for 2009-2010 and Part IV, "The Art & Science of Teaching: A Comprehensive Framework for Effective Instruction," is scheduled for 2010 -2011.
