The Education Enterprise Steering Committee was formed to partner with K-12 school districts, ESDs, Community Colleges, Universities, Oregon Department of Education and the Governor's office. One of our efforts this year will be to IMPROVE COMMUNICATION among all the partner members. One way the committee selected was to submit a monthly "highlights" to everyone following each monthly meeting.
October Highlights~ Below are the highlights from the Oct. 9 meeting of the EESC in Salem:
* Following the Nov. 13, 2008 meeting, everyone should expect to receive the EESC adopted overall performance goals and the 2008-09 annual goals within the areas of School Improvement, The Scaling Up Project, Technology, Administrative Service and Communication.
* Online Schools: The committee discussed the concerns regarding online schools and learned that the State Board is proactively exploring options for legislative consideration...stay tuned.
* A detailed report was given on Data Warehouse, KIDS Project and Last Mile Connectivity Plan. If your district is interested in learning more about these projects, contact your local ESD.
* ODE presented two policy option packages that are proposed for the Governor's budget. They are the Oregon Diploma Implementation and Improving Data Quality. Both received unanimous support from the committee. The committee chair will send a letter of support to ODE and the Governor's office.
