No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requires that states provide systems of support for those schools and districts designated in need of improvement because they have not met Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) targets for two consecutive years.
To support its schools and districts, the Oregon Department of Education, in partnership with the Oregon Association of Education Service Districts, provides the Oregon School Improvement Facilitators Program to help build the capacity for planning, implementing, and sustaining continuous improvement--regardless of a school's NCLB designation.
Services of School Improvement Facilitators are available through the regional Education Service Districts to guide schools through a continuous and sustainable improvement process by providing customized training, tools, and other resources that directly address individual school needs. School Improvement Facilitators are skilled in group processes and help schools obtain increased academic achievement for all students.
